Where do I drop off and pick up my child?
Please park in designated parking areas; you may be towed from undesignated parking places. It is also important to not leave children in the car and that your car is shut off before entering the building.

When, where and how do I pay tuition?
Program tuition statements are e-mailed to you monthly. Tuition fees cover a one month period and are due in advance of the childcare service.

Payments are due in the School Age Care office on the 15th of the month. Late payments will be assessed a $10 fee. Failure to make payments on time is subject to termination from the program. For more information, refer to the Family Handbook.

How will I be informed of the activities in which my child is participating?
Children take part in many group and individual experiences which encourage physical, intellectual and social development with a minimum of formal structure in a well-supervised and comfortable environment. Each site offers activities that include arts/crafts, science, reading, group time, homework groups, computers, physical activities, special guests and field trips. Activities are designed to complement the school day without duplicating it. Activity Calendars are posted on the website and on site every two weeks.

Each site has a weekly morning and afternoon calendar posted at the site. This helps keep you informed about your child’s day at Spartan Kids' Care.

We may travel off site on non-school days this year. If your child is on site the day of the trip, he or she is required to participate in the field trip. Field trip information will be listed in your monthly Spartan Speaks newsletter.

As a reminder, a field trip information sheet will be posted in the Family Area. Refer to of your Spartan Kids' Care Handbook for more information about field trips.

To help children in the program become more aware of their communities, the staff and children plan and participate in several community projects. We are always looking for other organizations with which we can become involved. If you have any ideas, please contact the Kids’ Care staff.

What do I need to know about Non-School Days?
The non-school day program is offered from 6:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. on days when school is not in session. Please refer to School Age Care and District calendars for specific dates of non-school days.

A variety of special theme projects and activities are offered on non-school days. While registration for these days is the responsibility of the family, you will be reminded to register in the following ways:
• Each family receives a yearly calendar in September indicating the non-school days and deadline dates.
• District calendars indicate non-school days.
• Reminders are placed in the Family Area at each site.

Once you have registered your child and the deadline has passed, you will not be able to withdraw without being charged. A confirmation email will be sent to notify you that you are registered. If you do not receive a confirmation email, you are not registered.

As previously stated, the parent/guardian must provide lunch on non-school days unless otherwise noted on the registration website.

Can I volunteer at the School Age Care program?
Family members are welcome to volunteer in the program. Volunteers need to be 18 years of age or older. Contact the staff to inform them if you are interested in volunteering.

What should my child wear?
Please dress your child appropriately according to the weather. Your child will spend time outdoors each day. The children will need a pair of sneakers for gym, outdoor activities and field trips.

Can my child bring games/toys from home to School Age Care?
The sites are fully equipped with art supplies, outdoor equipment, games and manipulatives for the children to enjoy. School Age Care may allow toys/electronics from home. See Handbook for more information. 

How are breakfast, lunch and snack done at School Age Care?
SAC does not serve breakfast on school or non school days.

The District offers a school breakfast program. Contact District Food Service for information on setting up your child’s breakfast/lunch account and other questions you may have by calling 651-306-7217 in Inver Grove Heights. Staff members will announce the start of breakfast and encourage the children to attend. Staff supervises the children during breakfast.

On non-school days, you must provide a lunch for your child unless otherwise noted on the registration form. We prefer you not send pop as a beverage on a regular basis. SAC provides milk free of charge for lunch. We do not always have access to a refrigerator, so pack your lunch accordingly. We also do not have access to a stove, microwave or freezer.

School Age Care provides a nutritious snack every afternoon. Snack menus, as well as breakfast menus, are posted in the Family Area at your child’s site.

How do I report an absence?
If your child will be absent, please inform the staff via a note or phone call to the main site phone number. Site numbers are listed at the end of this document. You will also receive a business card with your child’s site information on it.

What happens if my child becomes ill, needs medication or has an accident while at SAC?
If a child becomes ill or is injured at SAC, staff will notify the parent(s)/guardian(s). Please remember to keep contact information current the program. Refer to the Family Handbook for further information about these policies and procedures.

What happens if there is a site emergency or weather-related closing?
When we think of emergency closings, we tend to associate them with the winter months and the winter weather conditions, but there are situations that can arise at any time of the year and we need to be prepared. Please refer to your Family Handbook for program procedures.

What and where is the Family Area?
The Family Areas are designed to keep SAC families informed. They are located in the main area of our sites as close to the entrance as possible.

These areas include the sign in/out sheet, a hanging file with your family’s name on it, site activity calendars, a daily schedule, snack menus and information about staff.

You must sign your child in and out each day. This is important for the safety of each child. If another adult or guardian is picking your child up, inform the staff on site by phone or a note. Staff members are instructed to ID anyone they do not recognize who comes to pick up a child.

What are the School Age Care program dates and hours of operation?
Spartan Kids' Care opens on September 6th. 

Before school hours of operation: 6:00 am to 8:15 am
After school hours of operation: 3:10 to 6:00 pm.
Summer hours: 6 am to 6 pm
